Bloggers Lovin’ and Hatin’ on Our Posters.

So far, our posters have appeared on thousands of blogs, and we’ve gotten some interesting comments along the way.

Most of the peeps who like them just reblog and share them with their friends. People who are moved to comment are often angered by the posters, and it’s quite interesting to hear what their take is.  Here is a sampling for you. (You can see our full set  of 200+ screen grabs here.)

SmartPhone App Tells You Who Is Behind Any Political Ad

Ad Hawk is a cool smartphone app tells you who is behind any political ad you hear. It’s basically like a Shazam for political advertising. Just capture an audio sample to find out:

• The ad sponsor

• Money received or spent

• Where the ad is on the air

• Media reports on the political group or ad

• Places to learn more information
It’s available on your app store.
Or read more about it here.

A new Fox News Poll shows that 71% of Republicans don’t want Sarah Palin to run for president. So naturally, this is the perfect time to draft this great American into running for the highest office in the land. Won’t you join with us as we make our appeal in simple words of one or two syllables?

New “Dollar Bill Protest” is Gaining Momentum

These bills are showing up everywhere now. And the amazing thing is, the statement above is true. You may recall the recent public discussion about which large corporations have paid no taxes in recent years, largely because of loopholes put in place by Republican legislators. For example, General Electric paid no taxes at all in 2009. Not a small amount. Not a low rate. They literally did not pay a dollar.

This is the sort of protest that one can engage in from the comfort of one’s own home, with a glass of ice tea at one’s elbow. Of course, defacing money is a crime, so PoliticalLoudmouth would never sanction such a thing. Sugar and lemon for you?

New Poster: “No Means Yes. Yes Means Anal. Ass-rape a DKE Today. QED.”

You probably haven’t heard about a recent incident involving the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity at Yale, in which the pledges paraded around campus threatening other students and chanting, “No means yes! Yes means anal!”

Yale University has suspended the DKE chapter for 5 years, but have these extraordinarily privileged young men learned their lesson? Doug Lanpher, interim executive director of DKE, told The New York Times in response to the ruling:

“We suspended their pledging activities for six weeks so we could review their activities with them. Clearly the chanting was inappropriate, but does it warrant a five-year suspension? While the events were insulting and in poor taste, DKE firmly disputes this to be a legally actionable case of sexual harassment.”

This feeble attempt to muddy the waters and squirm out of responsibility suggests to us a certain lack of academic rigor. Therefore, we have constructed the syllogism in the poster above, simply following the DKE proposition to its logical conclusion.

New Poster: “Gaia Say Fight: You Are Our Secret Weapon Against The War on Women”

The recent War on Women waged by the American Trailer Park Patriarchs Party is, of course, just the most recent skirmish in a virulent campaign that has being going on at least since a certain Bronze Age thug/goatherd first intoned, “Look, it’s Yahweh or the highway.”

Now, the planet herself is waking and says to you, “Rise up, my children. I am with you. I will strengthen your arm. Strike a blow for freedom. Yours…and mine.”

Here’s Your San Francisco “Fear the Beard” T-shirt, By Request

Looks like the San Francisco Bay Guardian has picked up our joke graphic and started using it as the official bug of the ongoing San Francisco new mayor kerfuffle story, featuring Aaron Peskin. So, for PJ, Delfina, the two peeps in an unnamed city department, and all the other folks who have asked about T-shirts, here’s the link to San Francisco’s own “Fear the Beard” fashion statement.

Keep up with the story in the San Francisco Bay Guardian Blog  here.  And the it continues here. And it’s also now in the print edition.

Gavin Newsom: “Fear the Beard.”

Newly-minted  Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom has been heard around San Francisco referring to long-time rival , Aaron Peskin, formerly President of the Board of Supervisors, as “Mayor Peskin.” It came to a head when, while addressing a record crowd at the Giants Parade, Newsom warned San Franciscans to “Fear the Beard.”

We made this little graphic for fun, and it zipped around San Francisco political circles at the speed of light. You can see it the San Francisco Bay Guardian blog.  And the story continues here.

Carl Paladino: Baby Killer

Carl Paladino, the GOP candidate for governor in New York, is also a vigorous anti-abortion activist based on his Catholic faith. So it’s interesting that it has recently come to light that that he’s the landlord for a Planned Parenthood in Niagara Falls, NY.  It looks like there’s another god who trumps even the mighty Yahweh: That would be Mammon. Let Them Be On Your Head

One of the surreal things about the last year is that the Tea-Baggers clearly don’t know what “Tea-Bagging” is. It’s hard to imagine these fresh-faced corn-fed folk out there shouting for someone to lay their testicles on their heads while they’re asleep. Because we traditionally try to calm things down here at PL, we decided to cast our bread upon the waters with this free poster. Go to download page

They Hope You Don’t Vote

On November 2nd, you know who’s going to be first in line at the voting booth. The crazies. The conspiracy theorists. The people who line their caps with aluminum foil to keep out the brainwaves from Planet Zorklon. The people who don’t even realize what an insult it is to their own country to say that any American political leader is even remotely like Hitler. On Nov 2nd, it’s crucial that our voices be heard as well, not just the voices of those who shout the loudest. Share this thought-provoking video with your friends. Then I’ll see you down at the polls, neighbor.

Greening Arizona

We did this set of posters for a friend of Political Loudmouth who’s running for the House of Representatives in Arizona, District 15.  As we all know, Arizona is a state that is undergoing quite a struggle to determine what its core values are. With that in mind, we wanted to help Luisa’s voice be heard, because she is a wonderful combination of lofty idealism and hard-headed practicality. There is no stopping her. You go, grrrrl! Voting is Fun!

On Nov 2nd, remember to send your love letter to America. Just walk into your local polling place, pick up one of those ballot thingies, and express your deepest feelings. When you’re done, just drop your message in the little slot and it will be sent to America right away—for free!

Oh, and that popping sound you hear is heads exploding. It’s the sound of Tea Partiers trying to understand that they aren’t the only ones who love their country. Bip! Bop! Pif! Pap!

Take Our Jobs, Please

This is one of the most brilliant public relations “stunts” I have ever seen. In the face of increasing anti-immigrant rhetoric, much of it centered around “them” taking “our” jobs, The United Farm Workers Union has launched a new campaign, called “Take Our Jobs.”

By filling out the online job application, Americans in search of work can be connected to farm labor jobs in their area. So far, there have been only a few dozen serious applicants, and also a raft of hate mail. Read the whole story Or apply for a job picking tomatoes here.

New Poster: Tax That Baggie!

California budget problems: Ouchie! Ouchie! We’ll do ourselves a favor by taxing the state’s most popular weed. Conservative estimates run to over $1 billion in sales and excise taxes alone. Not to mention moving law enforcement and justice dept resources elsewhere. We’ll have more control over the movement of cannabis as well. Go to download page

A Loudmouth Takes on “National Organization for Marriage”

We’re so proud to see a bold spirit like J Corey Davis taking on the “National Organization For Marriage” in Indiana. When this well-funded and highly-connected group  held one of their rallies in celebration of narrow-minded bigotry, Corey sallied forth and demonstrated a different point-of-view that rose above the smallness of Patriarchy R Us. Way to go, dude, and thanks for including us!
