Amazingly, this is actually happening. See story here.

Do you know what really decreases the number of abortions? It’s when there’s less need for abortions. And that means access to birth control and good information should be the first items on the list for any anti-abortion crusader.

Susan G. Komen For the Cure is the nation’s largest breast cancer charity, and it’s a longtime funder of Planned Parenthood, an organization that provides mammograms and other healthcare to women who would otherwise have no access because of poverty. Recently, they hired a zealously anti-choice vice president, who took advantage of other congressional attacks on Planned Parenthood to drop funding for it because it’s “under investigation.” Point of information: Abortion services represent only 3% of Planned Parenthood’s entire budget.
The total amount Komen donated each year was $600,000. In the 24 hours following the announcement by Komen, Planned Parenthood raised $400,000. Mayor Mike Bloomberg of New York City donated another $250,000.
In addition, pressure is growing in Congress for Komen to reverse this highly political action.

Many thanks to Brazilian artist Patricia Ariel for allowing us to feature her art. You can see more of her amazing paintings here.
The recent War on Women waged by the American Trailer Park Patriarchs Party is, of course, just the most recent skirmish in a virulent campaign that has being going on at least since a certain Bronze Age thug/goatherd first intoned, “Look, it’s Yahweh or the highway.”
Now, the planet herself is waking and says to you, “Rise up, my children. I am with you. I will strengthen your arm. Strike a blow for freedom. Yours…and mine.”

Perhaps surprisingly, we’ve had many requests to turn this poster into a bumper sticker. So here it is! And, for you hardy souls brave enough to put this bumper sticker on your car, I salute you!
It’s available on our cafe press page, here.
Hey, brothers! Our sisters need us! The right wing radicals in America have launched a concerted attack on women’s rights. In the US House of Representatives and state houses across the nation, Republicans have initiated and are passing an astonishing array of bills that will strip women of their reproductive rights. From victims being forced to prove that they were raped to the IRS, to state bills like the recent Missouri bill that mandates a 7 year prison sentence for doctors who perform an abortion on a “viable” fetus, the attacks are coming from all directions. Time to man up! Let’s go, bros!

I usually try to take the line that “Republicans are people too, and our fellow Americans as well” but I would rather not share a country with this guy.
If H.R. 3 becomes law, IRS agents conducting audits on women would have to figure out if they had ever used any tax credit or benefit to pay for an abortion. And if a woman had used any kind of tax benefit or credit to pay for an abortion, she would have to provide documentation that she was the victim of rape or incest, or that the termination was necessary to save her life. This measure now has 221 co-sponsors.
Thanks to the 581,053 people who signed the “Redefining Rape?” petition, the Republicans are back-pedaling from their attempt to redefine rape. But there are still many aspects of this bill that will be injurious to women’s health.
Among other things, the bill would effectively prevent women from using their own money to purchase insurance that includes abortion coverage in the new insurance exchanges. Experts warn this could lead to insurance companies dropping abortion coverage entirely.
Carly Fiorina, GOP candidate for Senator in California, would like to present herself as a forward-thinking businessperson. But she also said in the first debate with Boxer that she would overturn Roe v Wade if she could. We’d like to remind California voters of that. Go to download page
Carl Paladino, the GOP candidate for governor in New York, is also a vigorous anti-abortion activist based on his Catholic faith. So it’s interesting that it has recently come to light that that he’s the landlord for a Planned Parenthood in Niagara Falls, NY. It looks like there’s another god who trumps even the mighty Yahweh: That would be Mammon. See article
This has been a very fun series of posters to work on. We’ve gotten so much feedback and engendered so much discussion that this has basically been the funnest thing we’ve done yet. So thanks to everyone who participated, shared, blogged, reblogged, cheered, and booed. This is the last poster, and since it’s the tail end of a long series, a little joke about buggery seemed in order. (Nyuk, nyuk). Go to download page.
